Thornybush Reserve
Thornybush Private Game Reserve is 11 000 hectares and forms part of the Greater Kruger Area. As with many private reserves in South Africa, Thornybush is managed as an eco-tourism destination, thus the Reserve is funded by means of a number of up-market private commercial game lodges located within the Reserve.
Typical of Kruger Park lodges in this vicinity, the reserve boasts an astounding number of species of mammal, including the so-called ‘Big Five’, as well as more than 500 species of birds. The incredible biodiversity of the Kruger Park area makes it a special destination for the serious nature-lover. In addition, there are plenty of striking trees and beautiful flowers to delight the eye and satisfy the keenest botanist. The surrounding landscape has a rough, wild beauty that captivates and exhilarates; the Drakensberg Mountains loom large on the horizon. A sense of timelessness pervades. Leave civilization as you know it and experience the liberation of the wilderness.
